1.1 Local Data Storage
Tap2Lingo stores your preferences, selected languages, favorites, search history, and app settings locally on your device using AsyncStorage. This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us.
1.2 No Personal Information Collection
We do not collect, store, or transmit any personally identifiable information (PII) such as your name, email address, phone number, or precise location data.
1.3 Anonymous Usage Data
When you use translation features, your search queries are sent to third-party translation services. These queries are not linked to your identity and are processed anonymously.
2. Third-Party Services
Tap2Lingo uses the following types of third-party services to provide functionality:
Translation Services: Your search queries are sent to third-party translation providers for processing. These services may collect anonymous usage data according to their privacy policies. No personally identifiable information is sent with your queries.
Dictionary Services: Grammar and language information may be retrieved from third-party dictionary providers. Queries are anonymous.
RevenueCat: Manages subscription services. RevenueCat processes purchase data through Apple and may collect anonymous device identifiers for subscription management. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy at revenuecat.com/privacy.
Apple App Store: Handles all payment processing for subscriptions. Apple manages your payment information according to their privacy policy at apple.com/legal/privacy.
3. How We Use Information
The limited data processed is used solely to:
- Provide translation and pronunciation services
- Save your preferences and settings locally
- Manage your subscription status
- Display your search history and favorites for convenience
- Improve app performance and user experience
4. Data Security
All your personal data (preferences, history, favorites) is stored locally on your device using industry-standard secure storage. We do not have access to this data. Translation queries sent to third-party APIs use encrypted HTTPS connections.
5. Data Retention
Local data is retained on your device until you:
- Clear your search history or cache in Settings
- Delete the app from your device
- Manually remove individual favorites
We do not retain any data on our servers. Third-party services may retain anonymous usage logs according to their own policies.
6. Children's Privacy
Tap2Lingo is rated 9+ and is designed to be safe for all ages. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from users of any age. No account creation is required, and all data is stored locally on the device. Parents and guardians can manage App purchases through Apple's Family Sharing and Screen Time features.
7. Your Rights (GDPR & Global)
You have full control over your data. Since all data is stored locally on your device, you can:
- Access: View all your data within the app
- Delete: Clear history, cache, or favorites anytime
- Portability: Your data exists only on your device
- Erasure: Delete the app to remove all data
For users in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have additional rights under GDPR including the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
8. International Data Transfers
Translation queries may be processed by servers located outside your country. These transfers are necessary to provide the translation service and are conducted using secure, encrypted connections.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted within the app with an updated "Last Updated" date. For significant changes, we will provide notice through the app. Your continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
